SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Manage all elements of the New Life Program, including on-going program development and implementation, working with the Director of Programs, to ensure the highest quality, attainment of program goals, and alignment with SRM mission statement and core values.  Ensure development and integration of five key components: 1)  Spiritual,  2) Counseling/Case Management,  3) Behavioral Life Skills,  4) Education,  5) Work Therapy/Career Readiness.  Directly supervise all NLP Coordinators, including training, scheduling, evaluating and participation in hiring and firing.  Counsel NLP residents consistent with Biblical principles and provide guidance and support to NLP staff.  Prepare all reports related to the New Life Program, collecting relevant data and ensure its accuracy. Address and resolve program-related concerns.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop the New Life Program, collaborating with the Director of Programs and NLP team; facilitating program outcomes and goals.
  • Manage daily operations of New Life Program, supervise administrative duties associated with the New Life Program including but not limited to client rosters, files, finances, stipends and drug testing.
  • Primary responsibility for hiring, training, supervising, evaluating, and terminating employment of departmental staff.  Initiate process and participate according to SRM policies and procedures.
  • Supervise NLP Coordinators, volunteers, and mentors providing support, encouragement and accountability for services provided to the NLP residents. 
  • Review and approve service plans.  Evaluate effectiveness of service plans with appropriate staff and update accordingly.  Verify referrals are handled appropriately and files and records are accurately maintained.
  • Manage teaching schedule and calendar for all Bible classes, NLP curriculum, life skills and recovery classes, morning devotions and evening chapel services.
  • Facilitate opportunities for NLP staff to receive appropriate on-going education, training, and development in order to remain informed, viable, and cutting edge.
  • Conduct weekly NLP meeting to establish, coordinate, and maintain client services and communication with and between NLP staff. 
  • Maintain a small caseload of NLP clients, providing counsel and procuring services to facilitate growth and development centered on Christ: 

  Identify and assess client needs and goals, develop and implement individual service plan, linking with community resources through a referral process, to meet those needs and goals. 

  Maintain current and complete case notes and records for each client.

  Complete weekly program reports and submit by deadline for compilation of monthly reports.

  Network with related service providers within community to access needed services for clients.

  Work with clients and other NLP staff to schedule internal and external meetings and appointments.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ministry minded, mature Christian with the passionate belief and commitment to invest in individuals, demonstrating Christ’s love and grace through relationship healing and practical assistance.
  • Excellent team-builder and leader, able to grow and develop staff to enhance strengths individually and as a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to listen and guide according to biblical principles and individual needs.  Effectively and practically communicate and counsel according to Biblical concepts of grace and truth.
  • Exercise sound judgment demonstrating proficiency in analysis, problem solving, mediation and conflict resolution.
  • Strong program development skills, able to grow and improve program in alignment with core values and contribute and thrive in a change environment.
  • Good writing and teaching skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the professional community with the ability to effectively interface and establish relationships to create appropriate community relations with similar agencies, other human resource organizations and legal organizations within the community.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while achieving program outcomes and meeting deadlines.
  • Insightful, trustworthy, honest and perceptive.
  • Excellent organization skills with regard to people and information.
  • Computer literate, knowledgeable in word, excel, database management systems and internet.
  • Knowledge and experience in drug and alcohol addiction, mental health, and 12-Step/AV recovery.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:

  Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%

                Work is primarily indoors and will require climbing stairs occasionally, on a daily basis.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3 years of previous management/supervision experience working within homeless/mental health/addiction field
  • 5+ years working directly with individuals who have had homeless, mental illness, and/or addiction related issues
  • Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Biblical Studies or a related field required, Masters Degree in Social Work, Management, Divinity, Theology or a related field preferred
  • Ordination and Certification in drug/alcohol counseling preferred
