What is a Neighbor?

A man was walking along a treacherous road between Jerusalem and Jericho when he was robbed and left for dead.

A priest and a Levite saw the man, but instead of helping, they passed by on the other side of the road. A Samaritan saw the dying man and had compassion. The unlikely hero bound the man’s wounds, set him on his mule, walked miles to the nearest town and paid an innkeeper to care for him until he recovered.

Jesus then asked the lawyer, “Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man?

The one who showed mercy.
