Last year, Springs Rescue Mission celebrated its 25th year serving the homeless and hungry in Colorado Springs. It was also an incredibly significant year in terms of physical and programmatic growth.

At the bottom of this page, you'll find the Mission's 2021 Impact Report — an annual document featuring highlights, accomplishments, outcomes and guest stories from the last fiscal year (June 2020 to May 2021). If you're curious about the impact you make as a supporter of Springs Rescue Mission, we encourage you to take a look! Here is an overview of what you'll find in the 2021 Impact Report.

25 YEARS STRONG

Last year, Springs Rescue Mission celebrated its 25th year as a homeless services organization in Colorado Springs.

In 1996, Paul and Marilyn Vyzourek began serving sandwiches to homeless men and women in parks and under bridges throughout the city.

Over the years, the nonprofit gradually grew into what it is today: a sprawling campus of resources and services designed to get neighbors in need healthy, working and in permanent housing.

“Look how many people it’s helping,” she said. “It just brings tears to my eyes when I see what God has done.

What started with a meal, became a movement.

A CAMPUS OF HOPE

The opening of a new Welcome Center marked the completion of SRM’s six-year, $18-million-dollar Community of Hope capital campaign to create a homeless resource campus. The creation of a single point of entry makes for a safer and more secure campus — one conducive to healing and recovery. It also lets us better know our guests and protect them from drugs, alcohol, weapons and communicable diseases like COVID-19.“This place of healing and transformation fulfills a God-given dream to create an extensive homeless resource campus in our city,” said President & CEO Jack Briggs.

IT’S WORKING

This campus is filled with life, love and the pursuit of dreams. People are healing, letting go and finding new direction in life. They are getting healthy, finding jobs and moving into homes of their own. They are finding their true purpose in life. Here are a few 2021 outcomes to demonstrate the incredible transformation we’re seeing:

130+ guests

engaged in addiction recovery programs each week

167 clients

transitioned into permanent housing in 2021

146 guests

found employment or engaged in work programs this year

2,596
