Regardless of your circumstance.Tyler’s story began when his mom suffered a stroke when he was born. Doctors said it was unlikely he would survive. But God had big plans for Tyler. Against all the odds, he survived. Thanks to Tyler’s great-grandma, he was no stranger to the kitchen growing up. Combining his love of art, his impeccable palate and skillful creativity in the kitchen, Tyler pursued a career as a professional chef.At the age of nineteen, he started working at the Briarhurst Manor Estate, located in Manitou Springs. Eight years later, he helped start and open 2 South Wine Bar. By the time Chef Tyler turned 30, he was the executive chef at the Warehouse, winning Colorado Springs Restaurant Association’s Best Chef award in 2014.But despite his rapid success as an award-winning chef, Tyler felt something was missing.Tyler has a passion for people and food. He regularly elevates ingredients, so they begin to be more than a meal; they provide hope to the lives of those eating his culinary creations. But not just any people—hungry people; individuals who aren’t sure when they’ll eat their next meal. For Tyler, it’s more than a passion—it’s a calling. When he followed this calling, he ended up finding Springs Rescue Mission, where he is now Catering Manager for Mission Catering, a social enterprise for the Mission. After years of following his passion, Tyler is using his skills to help feed thousands of hungry people every week. Even more, he’s using his expertise and skills to train the next wave of Colorado Springs’ top chefs, mentoring men in the Mission’s addiction recovery program. And recently, Tyler appeared On Shark Tank and shared his remarkable story to the elite panel of entrepreneurs and millions of viewers across the country. He pitched his invention, a multi-purpose scooping bowl with a built-in spatula, and Lori Greiner bit with an offer that was too good to pass up.Chef Tyler’s story as a chef and entrepreneur is just beginning. He’s using the skills God provided to impact people’s lives for the better at Springs Rescue Mission. Chef Tyler’s passion for food is transforming lives. He’s feeding hungry people every day, using exquisite meals to remind people how valuable they are. He’s helping men learn culinary skills that open many doors for employment, restoration and healing—elevating them to reach new horizons. No, Chef Tyler is not just another chef. And because of him, Springs Rescue Mission is not just another soup kitchen.-----If you missed Tyler’s episode of Shark Tank, you can watch it here.
