As we prepare to bid farewell to President & CEO Jack Briggs, who will be stepping down from his role on September 30th, we are pleased to announce that Chief Development Officer Travis Williams has been named Interim President & CEO, effective October 1st.
The SRM Board of Directors voted to appoint Williams to this interim role, expressing their "full faith and confidence" in his ability to guide the organization while the board conducts a national search for the Mission’s next permanent President & CEO.
"Travis is an exceptional leader with a real heart for what we do at Springs Rescue Mission," said SRM Board Chair Trenton Langhofer. "His deep understanding of the organization and track record of success make him the ideal choice to lead us during this transition.”
A Steady Hand During Transition
Williams is no stranger to Springs Rescue Mission.
Over the past nine years, he has played a critical role in shaping the future of the organization as Chief Development Officer. Under his leadership, SRM has experienced significant growth in its capacity to serve those in need, including key expansions in services, resources and community partnerships.
His leadership in fundraising and development has been instrumental in building the downtown campus and ensuring the long-term sustainability of SRM’s programs. Williams’ ability to forge strong relationships with donors, partners, and community members has helped Springs Rescue Mission grow into a robust organization, and he remains committed to its continued success.
“It’s evident that Travis has a passion for serving our neighbors in need,” Langhofer said. “I am confident that Travis will continue to advance the organization’s mission and vision with dedication and excellence.”
While Travis assumes the interim role, the Board of Directors is actively engaging in a comprehensive national search to identify the next permanent President & CEO. This process is expected to be finalized by January 1st, ensuring that Springs Rescue Mission is well-positioned for the future.
"I trust that the board's thorough process will ultimately strengthen our mission and our organization,” Williams said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead during this period and believe the search will help us gain valuable insights. No matter the outcome, my focus remains on furthering our mission and continuing the impactful work we've been doing together."
A Proven Track Record of Leadership
Before joining Springs Rescue Mission as Chief Development Officer in 2016, Williams had a successful career in the corporate world, followed by significant leadership roles in global organizations like Focus on the Family and Awana. Recognized as a thought leader in ministry and development, his work has spanned both national and international stages.
A Southern Colorado native, Travis has a deep connection to the region and is committed to the people of Colorado Springs, where he lives with his wife, Devon, and their three children.
Throughout his tenure at SRM, Travis has demonstrated his passion for empowering individuals and creating meaningful change for those facing homelessness, poverty and addiction. His leadership in operational campaigns and capital development has helped build an organization that continues to meet the community's growing needs.
"I am certain that Travis will continue to advance SRM’s mission and vision with the dedication, care and excellence that have been the hallmarks of his leadership,” said outgoing President & CEO Jack Briggs.
A Faith-Driven, Community-Focused Future
As the leadership transition unfolds, the board, staff and community have full confidence in Williams’ ability to guide Springs Rescue Mission. His proven track record, relational approach and dedication to the Mission's core values make him the natural choice to maintain stability and momentum.
