At Springs Rescue Mission (SRM), we believe every person in Colorado Springs deserves dignity, stability, and hope. That belief compels us to walk alongside men and women in Colorado Springs who are experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction. But this isn’t just our mission. It’s our city’s mission. It’s your mission. Every meal, every bed, every restored life is made possible by faithful partners who step in to support their neighbors in need. Recently, UMB Bank showed support for that mission in a powerful way.
More Than Food and Shelter
When Justin Beets, UMB Market President in Colorado, visited Springs Rescue Mission, he admitted something we hear often: “You do so much more than I would have guessed.” It’s hard to grasp the full scope of SRM’s work until you see it up close. Yes, we provide three meals a day and safe shelter. But the mission is so much more than this. Justin saw firsthand how SRM is setting people up for lasting success through case management, recovery programs, job training, and transitional housing. “It’s so much more than food and housing,”
Justin shared. “It’s setting people up for future success.”
Investing in the Local Community
UMB’s generous donation helped furnish transitional housing apartments at The Studios and supported SRM’s general programming. This investment reflects UMB’s heart for affordable housing and their commitment to serving vulnerable and underserved people right here in Colorado Springs. Transitional housing through SRM is just that – transitional. SRM understands that the journey from homelessness to stable housing requires more than just temporary shelter. That's why we offer transitional housing programs that provide individuals with a stepping stone towards independent living.
“The goal is to provide not just a roof over someone's head, but a sense of community, belonging and support as individuals work towards stability and health." - Travis Williams, SRM President and CEO.
Through these programs, individuals can access stable and supportive housing for an extended period, allowing them to rebuild their lives and work towards self-sufficiency. “UMB wants to give back to the local community with our time and funds,” Justin explained. “Investing in a nonprofit focused on the local community fits with our values.” Justin even shared a dream for the future: “Someday, it would be really cool to be able to hire someone at UMB who benefitted from the work at SRM.” That’s the long-term vision of this mission — one restored life creating a ripple effect across families, workplaces, and even future generations. And here’s the good news: you can be part of this Mission too.
Love in Action — It’s Your Mission
At Springs Rescue Mission, we believe that true transformation happens when communities come together with compassion and a vision. UMB’s donation is one example of what’s possible when people serve our community in tangible ways. UMB is putting their investment strategically into the local community where they do business. They want to see people who are experiencing hardship get the resources they need to rebuild their lives — and they’re committed to being part of that story. That’s what “It’s Your Mission” means. It means that when you give, volunteer, or advocate, you’re joining a movement that restores lives and strengthens the city as a whole. Together — with support from UMB and friends like you — we are seeing lives transformed. Because this is more than SRM’s mission. It’s your mission.
Without a warm and safe place to sleep, many of our homeless neighbors wouldn’t survive on the streets.
