Springs Rescue Mission’s work is rooted in one powerful truth: God loves every person deeply — including those who are hurting.
That belief compels us to serve the homeless, the poor, and the addicted in Colorado Springs with compassion and dignity. Not because it’s easy. Not because it’s popular. But because it’s what Jesus taught us to do.
And we don’t do it alone.
Every hot meal, every warm bed, every restored life is made possible by a community of faithful, compassionate Good Samaritans — people just like you, who step up to serve their neighbors in need.
Jesus and the Marginalized
Throughout the Gospels, Jesus consistently ministered to people on the margins of society — lepers, tax collectors, prostitutes, the sick, and the poor. He didn’t avoid them. He moved toward them.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free…”
- Luke 4:18
From the very beginning of His ministry, Jesus made it clear: He came for the hurting and the hopeless. He spent His life feeding the hungry, healing the broken, and calling sinners into restoration. And He called His followers to do the same.
“Whatever You Did for the Least of These…”
One of the clearest teachings on this is found in Matthew 25:35-40. In this passage, Jesus describes the final judgment and says:
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in,
I needed clothes and you clothed me,
I was sick and you looked after me,
I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
When the righteous ask, “Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty?” Jesus replies:
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
- Matthew 25:40
This is not a metaphor. It’s a mandate.
When we serve someone who is hungry, cold, addicted, or afraid — we are serving Jesus Himself. That is the foundation of our work here at Springs Rescue Mission.
And it’s also the reason we are so incredibly thankful for every donor, volunteer, church, and prayer partner in this city who is helping us live out this call.
Love in Action — Powered by You
It’s easy to say we love our neighbors. But Jesus calls us to show that love through action.
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
- 1 John 3:18
That’s why SRM offers:
And it’s your generosity — your prayers, your gifts, your time — that makes this possible. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Christ to our neighbors in need.
The Church’s Calling in Colorado Springs
As Christians in Colorado Springs, we are part of a larger Body — a Church called to be a light in the darkness.
That means:
You don’t have to work at a shelter to live this out. When you give, serve, or pray, you’re living out the Gospel. You’re loving your neighbor. You’re helping restore lives in Jesus’ name.
Following Jesus to the Margins
At Springs Rescue Mission, we believe transformation begins with relationship — with each other, and with Christ. We believe that when we love the poor, we reflect the very heart of God.
“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.
I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
- Mark 2:17
So today, we say thank you. Thank you for helping us follow Jesus to the margins. Thank you for loving “the least of these.” Thank you for standing with us as we bring hope, healing, and restoration to this city — one life at a time.
Thank you for answering Jesus’ call.
Without a warm and safe place to sleep, many of our homeless neighbors wouldn’t survive on the streets.
Every dollar you donate will be matched,
doubling the impact you have
on homeless neighbors in your community!
Help us reach our goal by September 30!
