A new concept for Colorado Springs

Greenway Flats is a first-of-a-kind for Colorado Springs: permanent supportive housing for the chronically homeless.

The 65-unit apartment complex will accommodate men and women considered chronically homeless — where the basic goals of housing, health and work are more challenging achievements for the individual. They are the most at-risk group of the Colorado Springs homeless community.

The building was designed as a joint effort between Springs Rescue Mission, Nor’wood Development and Ross Management to help these men and women transition into a sustainable lifestyle. Each 400-square-foot unit features an open living area, built-in storage, a kitchenette with an induction cooktop, a refrigerator, a microwave and an enclosed bathroom.

Applications are thoroughly reviewed to ensure the men and women who live in these units fit the “chronic homeless” requirements. Greenway Flats is scheduled to open early June 2019.
