Colorado Springs Homeless Shelter Director

“Our shelter saves lives. But we’re also showing them the loving kindness of God. We believe that when we show them we truly care, when we’ve earned their trust, we can develop a relationship with them. When that happens, we can often help them escape their chronic homelessness, obtain housing, and become a contributing member of the community.”

– Sarah Stacy, Director of RAP, 2015

Provide a warm bed for a homeless neighbor.

Winter in Colorado can be deathly cold. Without a warm place to sleep, many of our homeless neighbors wouldn’t survive the night. During these cold months, we can offer up to 250 men and women a place to sleep.

Last year, our Winter Homeless Shelter provided more than 10,000 shelter nights (and hot breakfasts) per year.

That wouldn’t have been possible without our welcoming volunteers and generous neighbors like you.

I need somewhere safe and warm to sleep

We now have a low-barrier, year-round shelter with 168 beds available. This shelter operates 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.

There are no requirements for entry (no breathalyzers, no background checks, etc.—we want you to be safe), but your ability to stay will be determined by your behavior.

We will also provide you with a hot breakfast the following morning. In addition, we offer kennels for your pets.

Lottery System

During certain times of the year, our shelter becomes full. To ensure fairness, we use a lottery system. Names are drawn at random and the list of those who will be sheltered is posted at Samaritan’s Kitchen each afternoon.

To get your name on the lottery, please call (719) 632-1822 or visit us at RAP.
