Thanks to your support, neighbors felt hopeful during the month of April. From community Easter celebrations to a New Life Program graduation, hope was abundant on the Springs Rescue Mission campus last month. And it’s all because you care for neighbors in need! Scroll down for recent highlights, plus read Amber’s story of reconnecting with her family.
Smiles lit up the room as over 600 meals were served to men and women in the community during our annual “Easter Outreach Meal” on Good Friday. Guests were not only given a delicious meal, but also received hygiene bags packed by the generous Colorado Springs community, and even decorated Easter cookies. Take a look at this special event in the video above.
Glenn graduated from the New Life Program in early April. At his graduation, his friends spoke about Glenn’s strong faith, his ability to encourage others, and what an example he was for the other students.
Congratulations to Glenn!
We were happy to see seven guests make the decision to be baptized last month. With the help of a few volunteers, the Springs Rescue Mission campus chaplain baptized all seven on Easter Sunday and quoted Romans 6:4, which says, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
Because of your support, Springs Rescue Mission has been voted one of the top nonprofits in Colorado Springs in The Gazette’s “Best of the Springs 2019.” Thank you for making this possible!
Thanks to you, Amber reconnected with her family.
When Amber* fled a domestic abuse situation, she had nothing with her; no belongings, phone, car and no way to contact her family. Overwhelmed and confused, she came to Springs Rescue Mission and connected with a client navigator. Her client navigator found a way to contact her family through social media and encouraged Amber to message everyone in her family.
Within a short time, Amber’s sister contacted the Mission, ecstatic to hear from her sister for the first time in over two years. Amber is now reunited with her family and starting a new chapter of her life.
