Our Prayer Requests: April 2020

We all need prayer

Before we lift up our neighbors in need and those who serve them, let’s take a moment to recognize our own need for prayer. We’re all suffering and grieving in some way. Whether it be the loss of our daily routines, a layoff, an illness, a death or a feeling of isolation — separation from friends and family — let’s all acknowledge our need for grace and for healing. As we meditate on this need, let’s say a prayer for ourselves, our community and the world. Let’s pray that we might extend grace as we receive it from others, and that these hard times will soon pass.To help this process, here is a version of an old Irish prayer and blessing that does well to acknowledge our unconditional need for God’s unconditional grace, love and mercy.

You are the peace of all things calmYou are the place to hide from harmYou are the light that shines in darkYou are the heart’s eternal sparkYou are the door that’s open wideYou are the guest who waits insideYou are the stranger at the doorYou are the calling of the poorYou are my Lord and with me stillYou are my love, keep me from illYou are the light, the truth, the wayYou are my Saviour this very day.

The following are prayer requests submitted by neighbors struggling with homelessness, poverty and addiction. Please join Springs Rescue Mission staff and our faith community as we remember these precious neighbors in our daily prayers.
