Spring is a time of rebirth, renewal and resurrection — and we've seen so much of it at the Mission this year.Over the past few months, we've seen guests move into permanent housing, men and women graduate addiction recovery programs, individuals in Bible studies make the choice to be baptized and hundreds of hungry neighbors enjoy a special Easter meal.
Here are a few highlights from spring at the Mission:

Peak Vista serves homeless patients with clinic
In mid-April, we celebrated the grand opening of a new Peak Vista Community Health Center near our campus in downtown Colorado Springs.The new clinic offers a variety of health services to the public with a focus on serving those experiencing poverty and homelessness."This will be a great asset to the community, especially for our most vulnerable neighbors," said SRM Chief Development Officer Travis Williams. "We're thankful to have a strong partnership with Peak Vista in helping our guests address their medical needs and regain their health."
SRM guests celebrate Easter with a meal
The Thursday before Easter, hundreds of hungry guests enjoyed a special holiday meal in our Samaritan’s Kitchen and Dining Hall. They mingled with and encouraged one another while volunteers served them plates of ham, scalloped potatoes and green bean casserole — as well as desert.“It makes me happy,” said one guest. “It reminds me of when we all got together as a family — of good times and simpler times.”Every day at the Mission is meaningful, but it was a particularly joyous occasion to celebrate the Resurrection with so many of our neighbors!We hope you all had a wonderful Easter!
Jackie graduates women's Intensive Outpatient Program
Jackie graduated from the Intensive Outpatient Program!During a recent ceremony at the Mission, friends and staff celebrated her successful completion of the four-month addiction recovery program. Men baptized during on-campus Bible study
During a men's Bible study in late March, Jordahn and Stacey made the big decision to be baptized!"We are here to help clients who choose to deepen their faith to strengthen their journey with Jesus Christ," said SRM Chaplain David Packiam. "This is a public declaration of an inner conversion, and the deep commitment these women have made is such an encouragement to us all!"Congratulations, Jordahn and Stacey!
Leroy graduates men's Intensive Outpatient Program
In late March, Leroy graduated the men's Intensive Outpatient Program!His friends and SRM staff gathered to celebrate his successful completion of the four-month addiction recovery program. They shared their affection for Leroy, and their hopes for his future."Leroy carved his own path," said staff member Rebecca. "He showed fellow IOP members that you can be successful in getting a job and moving off campus while remaining sober. Leroy is a bright light, everywhere he goes he has a big smile on his face."Congratulations, Leroy!
