Springs Rescue Mission:

Guests, residents share hope, positivity for the New Year

Janine celebrating her graduation from the HOPE Program, symbolizing her journey from homelessness to stable work and housing.

What are your hopes, aspirations or resolutions for 2020?

“I want to work to get off of my walker so that I can get a job and find a better living situation. … It would be great to eventually work full time, but I’ll start with part time first — working in customer service or just anything where I can be around people.”

Ross - advanced shelter program guest, volunteer

“I want to keep working, I want to remain happy, I want to have peace of mind and I want to like myself. I want to be a champion for myself. … I pray, I talk to God, I talk to my friends and I talk to the staff here — whatever it takes.”

Kim - Greenway Flats resident, work engagement team lead

“I want to get my daughter back and be with her full time. God has really blessed us and things are really looking up.”

Bobby - New Life Program (men's residential addiction recovery) resident

“I want to get things in line to be successful — stay positive, get employment and graduate college. I’m about 30 credits shy of a business management degree.”

Tammy - Greenway Flats resident

“I would like to get a full-time job, a bigger apartment and a vehicle. My main aspiration right now is to have a job, so I can take care of what I need to.”

Partick - Greenway Flats resident

“Next year, [me and my girlfriend] want to move out of Greenway Flats and get a place of our own. Everything has been moving in the right direction, so we’re feeling good about it.”

Lori - shelter guest, work engagement participant

“I’d like to go to California — Hacienda Heights — to visit my grandbaby.”
