Janine celebrating her graduation from the HOPE Program, symbolizing her journey from homelessness to stable work and housing.

Thanks to the support of the incredible Colorado Springs community, September was a busy month at Springs Rescue Mission! Not only did we open a brand-new kitchen and dining hall, but we also had multiple events to care for guests in many different ways. Plus, we are excited to welcome a new President and CEO in October!

Here are a few highlights from September:

New 185-seat ‘Samaritan’s Kitchen and Dining Hall’ unveiled, ready to serve hungry neighbors

“For so long, guests have had to stand in long lines to wait for their meals,” said Larry Yonker, Springs Rescue Mission President and CEO. “This new space will allow us to keep people out of the cold and feed more hungry neighbors than ever before!”Last month we officially opened the all-new Samaritan's Kitchen and Dining Hall. Find out more about this crucial addition to the Mission campus - and how your generosity is changing lives - at the link below.READ MORE

Retired Air Force commander Jack Briggs chosen as SRM’s next President & CEO

“I look forward to working hard and carrying on the incredible work of Larry and the SRM team, and making sure we don’t lose sight of Larry’s amazing vision. ... God is present at Springs Rescue Mission, and I’m excited to be a part of that — to make space for Him to work in these people’s lives.”This month, Jack Briggs will become the President and CEO of Springs Rescue Mission. Get to know him in our digital newsletter!

Quarterly Foot Clinic Held

The CU School of Medicine held their quarterly foot clinic on the Springs Rescue Mission campus on September 12th. More than twenty guests were seen during the clinic, which addresses both the health of the feet and overall health. The medical students worked diligently on the feet of the patients, and some appointments even took upwards of 90 minutes to address all the needs. As one guest said as he left, "My feet feel like they are born again!”

Humane Society and Street Dog Coalition treat the pets of guests

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region brought their "Wellness Waggin'" to the Mission and partnered with The Street Dog Coalition to look after the pets of our guests. They saw nearly two dozen pets and administered both vaccinations and wellness services. We are thankful for their care for the smallest guests at the Mission!(Photo courtesy HSPPR)

Guests receive mobile dental care

No Smile Left Behind made three visits to the Springs Rescue Mission campus during the month of September. This mobile dental office has two treatment rooms - as well as digital x-rays - provides patients with immediate treatment. Guests were excited to have their dental needs addressed!Subscribe to our blog to learn more about Springs Rescue Mission and the people we serve — people who have seen tough times but are committed to breaking the cycles of homelessness, hunger and addiction in their lives.
