2,300 people served during the fiscal yearWe saw the impact of summer weather as our nightly shelter volume went down a bit in May. The average nightly shelter average was 278, down slightly from our near-record-breaking average of 291 in April. However, the women’s shelter remained at full capacity at 65 nightly guests. A total of 581 people were served during the month, bringing our fiscal year (beginning July 2017) total to just over 2,300.

A Colorado picnicSamaritan’s Kitchen once again provided over 500 meals per day and brought the total number of meals served since July 2017 to over 175,000! Additionally, staff from local company BombBomb put together a picnic for our guests and grilled 500 hot dogs on a perfect Colorado day.Welcoming a new agencyThe Resource Center facilitated more than 1,000 1-on-1 connections for the third straight month! We are also pleased that TESSA, a local organization dedicated to helping the victims of domestic violence, has now joined our list of on-campus agencies. This brings our total number of agencies to 19. We are continuing to talk to other agencies for their future involvement.

Double the graduatesWe happily graduated six men from our New Life Program in May, which is double the number of April graduates. All graduates left with both housing and employment secured. Some of these men moved into Mission Inn, which remains at full occupancy. There are 41 men currently in the New Life Program, and over 1,600 case management and counseling sessions have been held since July 2017.Low EMS visits Over 50 of our shelter guests are currently employed but cannot yet afford to move into housing. They average 30.6 hours worked per week and earn roughly $338 weekly from this employment. May also had the second lowest number of EMS visits (9) since July 2017. We attribute this to our physical and mental health partner agencies, as well as our shower/shelter services that make an impact on the health of our guests.More than 500 donations

The Supportive Family Services program assisted more than 650 families throughout the month, including over 300 children. There are about 50 families who are frequent users of the program (more than 25 visits this year), and we are working on routing these specific families to a volunteer case manager for family budgeting and community referrals. We also recorded over 500 donations at the dock during the month!Lives are restored on our campus daily because of generous gifts from caring neighbors like you.
